Thoughts on Absence

I am more for the notion of absence from an ontological perspective, in which we should understand absence as an inevitable element of presence. To illustrate, consider a painting. The more present the image is on the canvas, the more absent the actual scene it represents becomes. Thus, the persistence of presence implies that presence involves both presence and absence simultaneously.

When represented, an object is already absent in the act of representation. However, the absence becomes a profound presence in the transcendental experience, adding depth to our understanding of absence and presence.

On the representational scale, the same content describes the enduring nature of an imaginative object. This object persists, whether in its presence or absence, highlighting the enduring nature of the philosophical concept we are exploring.
