Everything is All” is a series of Paintings inspired by the poetry of the Persian poet and mystic Jallal-ad-Din Rumi.
I combine my visual meditations on love, politics, social issues, and spiritual and everyday life, willingly interpreted in a secular context but with a spiritual twist. Rumi’s poetry represents an increasing need for intuitive and mystical responses to the ordinary events of life and a more joyful daily existence. These paintings depict selected poems which inspire. Rendered distinctively, chosen for their narrative, informational and social quality, they promote and distribute his verse’s combined spiritual and visual character.
I use the Biting social commentary method. I use cynicism and biting wit, conditions so clear throughout Rumi’s work, by which I wish not merely to encourage reading his poetry but to transfer the diversity of his inner state to a broader audience and equally to myself as an artist.
Rumi’s verse is equipped with precise contemporary application, used in often dangerous and unsettling circumstances. Likewise, as his work has a cosmopolitan character, many people and aspects of humanity relate to it. Additionally, we learn from this series the wealth of topics used to evoke acclamation from the bare facts of the existence of the fellow being and to underline any role in the order of things. Just what it was, Rumi’s intention, after all.
